The new multiplayer capabilities also allow you to expand your challenges and fights beyond an AI in order to face off against fellow players. Galactic Civilizations III Linux DXVK – how to play this game on Linux.
Galactic Civilizations III is a Windows exclusive title but you can still play it on Linux and we’ll explain how.
For this game you’ll need only DXVK and Proton. Galactic Civilizations III will not run with normal Wine but runs great with Proton. Proton is a tool developed by Valve which uses a modified distribution of Wine to provide compatibility with Windows game titles and runs under the hood on the Steam for Linux client. If you use Steam the game will run out-of-the-box with Steam Play. If you own the GOG version don’t worry – you can still use Proton without the need to compile it. You can download the latest Proton version from Kron4ek GitHub site here.
Once downloaded and extracted you can start the game like that:
/path/to/Proton_folder/wine/bin/wine "/path/to/game_folder/game.exe"
If you don’t want to issue the command every time you want to play, just create a script or launcher with the coammand.
You can use ESync but keep in mind for some reason the game will run with 50 FPS no matter the settings.
Done! Now you can play Galactic Civilizations III on Linux!
