Hitman 3 is IO Interactive A/S game which for now is аn Epic Store exlusive hence it’s not available for Linux. We don’t know if Feral Interactive will work on this title when the game is available on Steam, but we can play it on Linux just now! Let’s begin!
For this game we’ll need latest Proton GE, DXVK and VKD3D-Proton for the game is DirectX 12 only and a dxvk conf file.
If you own the game on Epic Store, you can install their client via Lutris. As the first step you have to install DXVK. If you don’t know how to proceed, you can read our DXVK installation tutorial.
Now, with the DXVK installation finished, you can install VKD3D. It’s easy as the DXVK installation but you should copy and paste d3d12.dll next to Launcher.exe. The game will work without it but will complain on every launch that your system doesn’t support DirectX12.
We’re almost done. As the last step you have to create dxvk.conf file in the Retail folder of the game with the following content:
dxgi.customDeviceId = 10de
Done! Now you can play Hitman 3 on Linux!!!
