Need for Speed: Shift 2 Unleashed Wine Linux – how to run this game on Linux.
Need for Speed: Shift 2 Unleashed was a long awaited title for Linux users because it has suffered from the infamous black squares Wine problem, but it can finally be played now thanks to D9VK! For this game you’ll need Wine x86, an x86 Wine prefix, DirectX 9, and PhysX.
– For D9VK you may follow our D9VK step-by-step installation tutorial.
– The PhysX installation is easy and you have to just issue the following:
winetricks -q physx
– For DirectX 9 DO NOT use Wine’s d3dx9 implementation or the game will have graphical glitches. You’ll have to download Microsoft’s official installer and run it with double click just like in Windows. Follow the installer’s steps.
If you wish you can use ESync for some performance boost.
That’s it! You can now play Need for Speed: Shift 2 Unleashed on Linux!
- Wine version used in the video: Wine x86 4.11 with ESync enabled.
- D9VK version: 0.12
