Watch Dogs 2 Linux DXVK Wine – how to play this game on Linux.
Despite the fact the there’s a Linux screen at the game start, actually the Watch Dogs 2 isn’t available on Linux. Ubisoft are infamous Linux haters but fortunately you still can play it on Linux very easy.
For this game you’ll need Wine or Wine-Staging, DXVK, and optionaly Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable 2010/2012. Lets’ start!
For DXVK installation you can follow our easy tutorial. You also can use ESync for an additional performance boost. And that should be enough. We are ready to play!
If you experience some problems running the game, you can install Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable 2010 and 2012. This is easy as issue the following command:
winetricks -q vcrun2010
Repeat the same for the 2012 version:
winetricks -q vcrun2012
Installing these components requires setting prefix to Windows XP which is done automatically by the winetricks’s installer. Now you’ll have to set it back to Windows 7 from the Wine settings.
Start Wine settings:
winecfg
Now from the drop-down menu in the lower right corner choose Windows 7.
-eac_launcher -nosplash
All done! Now you can play Watch Dogs 2 on Linux!
- Wine version used in the video – Wine-Staging 4.12.1 with ESync enabled.
- DXVK version – 1.3
