Far Cry 5 Linux DXVK Wine – how to play this game on Linux.
Far Cry 5 is a game for Windows which runs very well on Linux with the newer versions of DXVK. It has some problems in the past but they have been solved by the community. To play this game on Linux is easy. You’ll need only Wine, DXVK, and a Windows dll.
– For DXVK you can refer to out DXVK installation tutorial.
– The game has problems with turning left or right land vehicles with the keyboard. We’ll fix this with the Windows library dinput8.dll. You can take it from a Windows 7 installation (Windows 10 won’t work) or download it from the Web.
Once obtained, put the library in the /bin/ directory, near to the game’s exe. Now open Wine settings with the following command:
winecfg
Gо tо Lіbrаrіеѕ tаb and in thе „Nеw оvеrrіdе fоr lіbrаrу“ fіеld wrіtе dinput8 and click on thе „Аdd buttоn“. Маrk thе nеw оvеrrіdе, рrеѕѕ thе Еdіt buttоn аnd ѕеlесt „Nаtіvе (Wіndоwѕ)“.

I am about to install Far Cry 5 today, so keep your fingers crossed. I use Debian SID, but i will downgrade to Buster because wine packages for Buster are the most current, that means version 6.x instead of for example 5.11 for SID….. I believe that i will have a long night.
