Metal Wolf Chaos XD Linux DXVK Wine – how to play this game on Linux.

The country is in peril as President Michael Wilson defends the nation against a full-scale rebellion led by Vice-President Richard Hawk and the mechanized legions he commands. As the 47th President of the United States, it is your sworn duty to take your country back by any means necessary and end this unjust coup d’etat! Battle in your advanced mech – armed to the teeth – across iconic American landscapes including the Brooklyn Bridge, the Grand Canyon, and the front steps of the White House.

Metal Wolf Chaos XD Linux DXVK Wine – how to play this game on Linux.

Metal Wolf Chaos XD was appearing exclusively on the original Xbox and only in Japan in 2004 but now Devolver Digital and FromSoftware have partnered together with developer General Arcade to modernize Metal Wolf Chaos with updates to the game including upgraded visual fidelity, refined controls and gameplay, a new save system, and 4K + 16:9 support for modern displays.

Unfortunately the game didn’t receive a dedicated Linux version but you can still play it without problems. The setup is relatively easy and you’ll need Wine, DXVK, and Windows Media Foundation a.k.a mfplat.

  • For DXVK installation you can check our super easy tutorial.
  • With DXVK installed the next step is to install mfplat. This is a very difficult task but thanks to z0z0z it can be done in seconds. All you have to do is download the archive from GitHub, extract it, export Wine prefix path, and run the install script.

– Export your Wine prefix path whеre you installed the game:

export WINEPREFIX="/path/to/your/wine/prefix"

– And now you should run the install script with:

./install-mf.sh

You can use ESync too but keep in mind the game has 30 FPS cap.

It’s ready! Now you can enjoy Metal Wolf Chaos XD on Linux too!
