Darksiders Genesis Linux DXVK Wine – how to play this game on Linux.
From the dawn of creation, THE COUNCIL has maintained the Balance across existence. Carrying out their orders are THE HORSEMEN, Nephilim (powerful beings spawned from the unnatural union of angels and demons) who have pledged themselves to the Council and been granted immense power.
However, this power came at a tragic cost: the Horsemen were ordered to use their newfound strength to wipe out the rest of their kind. What followed was a bloody battle on Eden where the Horsemen, obeying the will of the Council, annihilated the Nephilim.
Darksiders Genesis Linux DXVK Wine – how to play this game on Linux.
Darksiders Genesis is an Unreal Engine 4 game not originally available on Linux despite the fact this engine is crossplatform. This isn’t a devs decision though. In this thread one of the devs reveals that it’s THQ decision. Anyway, until waiting for a Linux port, we can play the game with very good performance and we’ll show you how.
For this game you’ll need Wine, Wine-Staging or Proton, DXVK and Windows Media Foundation (mfplat).
If you want to know how to install DXVK, our DXVK installation guide will guide you step-by-step through the setup process.
Now the game will run but it’ll stuck at the point where should be a cutscene playing after a while. To fix this you need to install mfplat. It’s usually a tough task but it’s very easy with z0z0z’s script.
Yоu’ll hаvе tо dоwnlоаd thе аrсhіvе with the script, ехtrасt іt, ехроrt Wіnе рrеfіх раth, аnd run thе іnѕtаll ѕсrірt. Here’s how:
- Export your Wine prefix path:
export WINEPREFIX="/path/to/your/wine/prefix"
- Start the install-mf.sh script:
./install-mf.sh
You can consider using ESync for an FPS boost.
There’s no need to remove the FPS cap manually like in Darksiders III and Darksiders III Keepers of the Void anymore.
All done. Now you can play Darksiders Genesis on Linux!
- Wine version used in the video: Wine-Staging 4.21 with ESync enabled.
- DXVK version: 1.4.6
