Journey to the Savage Planet Linux DXVK Wine – how to play this game on Linux.
Given that it looks so much like No Man’s Sky at a glance and it’s made by former Assassin’s Creed III and Far Cry 4 director Alex Hutchinson’s new studio, perhaps it’s best to start with which games Journey to the Savage Planet is not like.
Although you and a co-op partner find yourself in a raucously colourful distant planet scanning its local life forms and scavenging raw materials for crafting, it isn’t anything like as non-linear or as vast as No Man’s Sky. And sure, there’s a gun occupying the bottom-right of the screen, but Far Cry In Space it is not. What Typhoon Studios have made with their debut title is something else.
Journey to the Savage Planet Linux DXVK Wine – how to play this game on Linux.
Journey to the Savage Planet is an Unreal Engine 4 Windows game unfortunately not released for Linux despite the fact this engine is cross-platform. It’s also available for Playstation 4 and Xbox One. If you want to play it on Linux – don’t be afraid, it’s possible and it’s easy. Let’s start!
For this game you’ll need Wine, DXVK and Windows Media Foundation (mfplat).
You can install DXVK very easy following our understandable guide here.
And now it’s only left to install mfplat. If you try to do it manually it easily take you days or weeks to figure it out. However, you can install it for seconds with z0z0z’s script. Yоu’ll hаvе tо dоwnlоаd thе аrсhіvе with the script and the needed libraries frоm GіtНub, ехtrасt іt, ехроrt Wіnе рrеfіх раth in terminal, аnd run thе іnѕtаll ѕсrірt.
- Export your Wine prefix path where you installed the game:
export WINEPREFIX="/path/to/your/wine/prefix"
- Make the script executable and start the it with double click or via terminal:
./install-mf.sh
You can also use ESync for a FPS boost.
All done! Now you can enjoy Journey to the Savage Planet on Linux!
- Wine version used in the video: 5.0 with ESync enabled.
- DXVK version: 1.5.1

Hi, I have never used CrossOver on Mac but I think there’s no mfplat for it.
Hi, do you have any guidance for running the game on CrossOver (mac)? I can’t find „Windows Media Foundation“ on the Crossover components. With just DXVK the game runs but renders mostly black.
