XCOM: Chimera Squad Linux DXVK Wine – how to play this game on Linux.
XCOM: Chimera Squad delivers an all-new story and turn-based tactical combat experience in the XCOM universe. After years of alien rule, humanity won the war for Earth. But when the Overlords fled the planet, they left their former soldiers behind. Now, five years after the events of XCOM 2, humans and aliens are working together to forge a civilization of cooperation and coexistence. Welcome to City 31, a model of peace in a post-invasion world. However, not all of Earth’s inhabitants support interspecies alliance. Chimera Squad, an elite force of human and alien agents, must work together to destroy the underground threats driving the city toward chaos.
XCOM: Chimera Squad Linux DXVK Wine – how to play this game on Linux.
XCOM: Chimera Squad is an Unreal Engine 4 game that is not available native for Linux, despite the fact this engine is crossplatform. XCOM series are available native for Linux but they are ported by Feral Interactive not by Firaxis.
While we hope the game will be ported in the future, at the moment there isn’t any information in this regard. Until then we can play this game with Wine without any problems at all. Here’s how to do that.
For this game you’ll need only Wine, Wine-Staging or Proton. The game will run fine with one of your choice. The second requirement is DXVK of course. If you don’t know how to setup DXVK, you can read our very easy guide here.
If you want you can use ESync for an additional performance boost.
Keep in mind the game will start very slow. I don’t know if it’s like that on Windows but probably is.
And that’s all! Now you can play XCOM: Chimera Squad on Linux!
- Wine version used in the video: Wine 5.6 with ESync enabled.
- DXVK version: 1.6.1
