Astroneer is an Unreal Engine 4 game for Windows. Despite the fact this game engine is cross-platform, the developer didn’t released a native Linux version. However, you can still play this game on Linux without any problems.
The setup is relatively easy and you’ll need only Wine or Wine-Staging, mfplat (Windows Media Foundation) and DXVK. How to setup DXVK you can learn from our very easy DXVK installation guide.
Now you’ll have to install mfplat. It usually is a hard task but thanks to z0z0z it can be done in a blink of an eye. All you’ll have to do is to download an archive from GitHub, extract it, export Wine prefix path and execute the install script. Here’s how to do it.
Export your Wine path:
export WINEPREFIX="/path/to/your/wine/prefix"
And run the install script:
./install-mf.sh
You can also use ESync for an FPS boost.
