Might & Magic Heroes VII (commonly shortened to MMH7 or HOMM7) is a turn-based strategy game in the Heroes of Might and Magic series. Like the other games in the series, players control leaders with magical abilities termed as „heroes,“ who recruit a variety of forces from strongholds. The heroes and their armies battle the opponents, who also use heroes to lead their forces. It features a campaign series of levels, standalone and multiplayer scenarios.

Like the other games from the franchise, Might and Magic Heroes VII can also be played on Linux without any problems. To do this you’ll need Wine or Wine-Staging, Windows core fonts, and D9VK.
If you don’t know how to setup D9VK, you are in luck! You can follow our super easy D9VK installation tutorial.
You’ll need Windows core fonts for Uplay client. It’s easy to install them, just issue the following command:
wineticks -a corefonts
You can also use ESync for an additional performance boost and don’t forget to disable in game overlay from the Uplay Launcher settings or the game will freeze after the splash screen.
If you use a cracked version and the game freezes at boot or in the main menu, you can stop it’s access to the Internet. You have several choises:
- You can open /etc/hosts file and paste the following:
127.0.0.1 239.255.255.250 127.0.0.1 public-ubiservices.ubi.com 127.0.0.1 ubi.com 127.0.0.1 52.73.106.233
2. Install firejail.
Installing firejail on Linux is easy. You can either install it from your GUI software manager or from terminal.
- For Ubuntu/Mint, etc:
sudo apt install firejail -y
- For Arch/Manjaro, etc:
sudo pacman -S firejail
Then you can start the game with:
firejail --noprofile --net=none wine MMH7Game-Win64-Shipping.exe
You can also add this to the shortcut start options or create script for automatization.
3. Unplug your Internet cable/disable your connection at start.
